Abstract: Prof. Li-Chin Yeh contributed her expertise in applied mathematics and numerical computation, and collaborated with Prof. Ing-Guey Jiang's team from Institute of Astronomy. Co-supervising NTHU PhD student, Sridhar Gajendran, they collected updated exoplanet data and calculated the conditional probabilities for the existence of various types of exoplanets. Comparing the predictions from planet formation models of hot Jupiters, cold Jupiters, and super-Earths, different from large-scale orbital migrations of hot Jupiters, their finding supports a scenario where primordial planetary materials—such as pebbles and planetesimals—migrate and then directly form cold Jupiters and super-Earths near their current locations.
