Title: Giant X-ray circular dichroism in a time-reversal invariant antiferromagnet

Abstract: A multinational research team led by Prof. Chung-Yu Mou of the Department of Physics at National Tsing-Hua University (NTHU), Prof. Di-Jing Huang, a distinguished researcher at National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) and a joint professor of the Department of Physics, Prof. Atsushi Fujimori, a Yushan scholar at NTHU, and Prof. Sang-Wook Cheong of Rutgers University, discovered a new type magnetic material Ni3TeO6 in which there is no net magnetic moment but it shows strong optical activity (circular dichroism). This breaking the traditional understanding of magnetic materials. The first author of this paper is Dr. Jun Okamoto, an assistant researcher at NSRRC, and co-authors include Academician Chien-Te Chen of NSRRC and Prof. Horng-Tay Jeng of  Department of Physics at NTHU. The results were published in the top international journal Advanced Materials (IF=27.4) and were selected as the back cover article of the issue (2024, v36, issue25).
